Position Overview
We are seeking a Field Technician Team Leader – Heat Pump Projects to support our Smart Heating & Cooling Division. This role focuses on the installation and commissioning of air-to-air and geothermal heat pump systems in residential and small commercial environments. The Team Leader will manage a small crew, perform hands-on installation work, and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a field installation crew of 2–3 technicians
- Oversee job site operations, tools, and safety compliance
- Coordinate schedules and installation updates with project management
- Install and commission heat pump systems, including performance testing
- Install indoor and outdoor HVAC components, ductwork, condensate systems, refrigerant lines, and geothermal loop systems
- Ensure EPA compliance for refrigerant handling
- Complete QA checklists and project closeout documentation
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Universal EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience installing and commissioning heat pump systems (air-to-air and/or geothermal)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC electrical wiring, low-voltage controls, and refrigerant charging
- Experience using commissioning tools and smart thermostats
- Comfortable using mobile apps and digital documentation tools
- Valid Class D driver’s license
- Proven leadership and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Geothermal loop installation and flushing
- Electrical service work or HVAC controls integration
- Military or technical trades background
- Smart thermostat and app-based system setup
- Experience with energy-efficient or sustainable building systems
