About Us

Intelligent Green Solutions (IGS) was founded in 2011 by two Cornell University graduates with a background in launching and scaling clean technology manufacturing companies. This foundation has given us deep expertise in engineering high-quality, long-lasting solar and energy systems designed for maximum efficiency and durability.

With over a decade of experience, we take an engineering-first approach to designing and installing solar electric, battery storage, and advanced heat pump solutions, including geothermal and air-to-water heat pumps. Our manufacturing roots ensure we understand not just how to install systems, but how to build them for long-term reliability.

By integrating solar energy with cutting-edge heating and cooling technologies, IGS offers a complete, technically advanced solution for homeowners, businesses, and agricultural operations. Trusted by clients across industries, we are committed to delivering future-proof, high-performance energy systems that reduce costs and drive sustainability for decades to come.

Solar FAQs

How long are the warranties?

Warranty coverage varies by manufacturer and component. Solar panels come with a power performance warranty of up to 25 years, provided by the manufacturer. Inverter warranties range from 15 to 25 years, depending on the selected equipment.

During your site design assessment, our energy advisor will review all warranty details with you and answer any questions about your system’s coverage.

Do you install ground mount systems?

Yes, we install ground-mounted solar systems, providing a great option for homes with limited roof space or optimal sun exposure on open land. All trenching and installation work is performed by our in-house team, ensuring quality control and a seamless installation process.

Our engineering team will design a custom ground-mount system tailored to your property’s layout, energy needs, and performance goals.

What type of solar panels do you install?

We install a variety of premium solar panels, including REC, Solaria, Q-Cells, Hyundai, Trina, JA Solar, and Jinko. The best panel for your system depends on several factors, such as system design, roof layout, performance goals, aesthetics, and project scope.

Our engineering team carefully selects the right solar technology to ensure optimal efficiency, durability, and long-term performance based on your home’s unique needs.

What type of inverters to you work with?

We work with Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA, and Solis inverters. Each system is engineered in-house to provide the best performance and cost-effective solution based on your home’s specific energy needs. Our team carefully selects the right inverter to ensure maximum efficiency, reliability, and long-term savings.

Do you have local installation teams?

Our teams are all in-house installation teams trained in our renewable energy training center located in Upstate New York where we’ve trained thousands of solar installers.

Can you customize my solar system?

We customize each system to every home. Together with our local energy experts, we’ll walk through the best system designs options for your home.

How do I know how much energy I've produced?

All IGS systems include an energy monitor which allows you to view real time energy production from your solar system on the computer or smartphone app.

Does my homeowners insurance cover solar panels?

Yes, in most cases, adding solar panels to your home is easy and covered by your homeowners insurance. Rooftop solar panels are typically included under dwelling coverage, protecting against common risks like fire, wind, or hail—just like the rest of your home.

If your panels are ground-mounted or installed on a detached structure, they may still be covered under other structures coverage, though limits may differ.

It’s a good idea to contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage and make any necessary adjustments. In most cases, adding solar panels does not significantly increase your premium, making the process straightforward.

Heat Pump FAQs

How do I get a quote for a heat pump installation?

To get a quote, we start with a free consultation where our team assesses your home’s heating and cooling needs. We consider home size, insulation, existing HVAC system, and budget before designing a custom solution. You’ll receive a detailed proposal outlining equipment, installation costs, available incentives, and financing options.

What warranty comes with the heat pump?

As a Samsung Preferred Plus Dealer, we offer a 12-year parts warranty on Samsung heat pumps. Other brands also provide warranties ranging from 5 to 12 years, depending on the manufacturer. Full warranty details will be included in your proposal.

What factors affect the cost of a heat pump installation?

The cost depends on:

  • System type (ducted vs. ductless, air-source vs. ground-source)
  • Home size and layout
  • Energy efficiency rating (SEER, HSPF, COP)
  • Brand and model (Samsung, Mitsubishi, etc.)
  • Installation complexity (ductwork modifications, electrical upgrades)
  • Available rebates, tax credits, and financing options

Are there rebates or incentives available for heat pump installations?

Yes, many homeowners qualify for state, federal, and utility incentives that can significantly lower the cost of a heat pump. Our team will identify all available rebates, tax credits, and financing programs to help you maximize savings.

Do you offer financing options for heat pump installations?

Yes! We provide zero-money-down financing through third-party partners, making it easier to upgrade your home’s heating and cooling system. Our team can help you explore the best financing options during your consultation.

How long does it take to install a heat pump?

Most ductless mini-split installations take 1 to 2 days, while ducted heat pump systems may take 3 to 5 days, depending on system size and complexity. Our team will provide a timeline in your proposal.

Can a heat pump replace my existing heating system?

Yes! Heat pumps can replace or supplement your current furnace, boiler, or baseboard heating system. They work efficiently in all climates and can provide year-round comfort with both heating and cooling.

What brands of heat pumps do you install?

We install Samsung, Mitsubishi, and other leading brands known for their energy efficiency, reliability, and warranty coverage. Our team will recommend the best option based on your home’s specific needs.
