Will a heat pump lower my heating bills?
It can, especially when replacing oil, propane or electric resistance heat. Your fuel price, electric rate, insulation and system design all matter. Bring a recent energy bill to your estimate so we can compare your options.
Do I need an indoor unit in every room?
Not always. One unit can serve an open space; closed bedrooms may need separate zones or a ducted option. We check your layout before recommending the fewest units that will keep your chosen rooms comfortable.
Do heat pumps work through an Upstate winter?
Yes. Cold-climate systems are designed for winter heating. We calculate your home's heat loss and check the equipment's output at local winter temperatures, so the recommendation fits your house on cold days as well as mild ones.
Can I keep my furnace as backup?
Yes. A heat pump can work alongside your furnace. We compare that option with a full replacement and explain the effect on rebates. Keeping fossil-fuel heat means you do not qualify for the decommission rebate tier.
What warranty comes with the system?
Your proposal lists the manufacturer's equipment warranty and IGS's installation workmanship warranty. We explain the coverage and who to call for service before you decide.
What does a mini-split cost?
Single-room installations start at $5,800, with no Clean Heat rebate included. Additional rooms, larger spaces and electrical work can increase the price. Your free home visit lets us recommend the right layout and put the full installed cost in writing.
Can I get a rebate for a mini-split?
A single-room installation does not qualify for the whole-home rebate. Qualifying full-load replacements can receive up to $10,000 through NYSEG's NYSERDA Clean Heat program, depending on the project and address. You sign the program forms and assign the rebate to IGS; we deduct it from your contract price.
