What does a heat pump actually cost after rebates?
A whole-home ducted system starts near $7,000 with Samsung and about $8,000 with Mitsubishi once the NYSERDA Clean Heat decommission rebate is applied, in NYSEG, RG&E or National Grid territory. Bosch starts around $11,500. A single-room ductless system runs from about $5,800 and gets no rebate, because the whole-home rebate requires the heat pump to carry 100% of your design heat load. Your estimate puts the real number in writing.
Do I get the rebate, or does IGS?
The Clean Heat rebate is assigned to IGS and comes off your contract price up front, so you are not financing the rebate amount and waiting months for reimbursement. You sign the NY Clean Heat program documents at contract, and we file everything with your utility.
How long will these rebate amounts last?
Rebate amounts are set per program year by each utility and they move — this is not a permanent schedule. We check what your utility is paying on the day of your visit and lock that into your proposal. Which is why leaving it until spring can cost you.
Do heat pumps really work through an Upstate winter?
Yes. The equipment is cold-climate rated to heat efficiently down to -15°F, and we've got customers who've run them through five Upstate winters. We size against a full heat-loss calculation rather than a rule of thumb, which is what decides whether the system holds temperature on the coldest nights.
What if my electrical panel needs an upgrade?
Common, and it is the cost most heat pump quotes leave out. Our electricians are on staff, so any service or panel work is scoped and priced in your proposal and done on the same job — not handed to a subcontractor you have to wait on.
Can I keep my furnace, or do you replace it?
Both work. A hybrid setup keeps the existing furnace as backup for the coldest days while the heat pump carries most of the season. We also do straight furnace and boiler replacements. Note that keeping fossil-fuel heat means the decommission rebate tier does not apply, and we'll show you what that choice costs you.
Can you still get it in before winter?
That's the plan. We line up the equipment, the electricians and a crew before we give you a date, so the install itself is one to four days. The earlier you book, the more of the autumn schedule is still open.
What warranty comes with the system?
Equipment warranties typically run 10–12 years on compressors and 5–10 years on parts depending on the manufacturer. IGS carries its own workmanship warranty on the installation, and every term is written into your proposal before you sign.
Do you do geothermal as well?
Yes. Geothermal is right on some properties and wrong on others, and it comes down to your land and site access. If it is worth pricing at your place, we'll scope it next to the air-source option so you can compare.
