April 2015 | For Immediate Release
Intelligent Green Solutions (IGS) recently completed installation of a new solar hot water system at Hamley Farms in Hamlin, NY. Hamley Farms is an upstate NY dairy farm, and the solar hot water system from IGS will provide almost half of the hot water needed for the farm’s dairy operations.
The solar hot water system features 8 TitanPower-ALH32HP flat plate solar collectors, 2 StorMaxx solar storage tanks plus a pump station and system controllers – all from SunMaxx Solar. The installation was completed in late April 2015 and the solar hot water system is currently up and running.
Hamley Farms will cut 48% of their hot water energy costs with the solar hot water system from IGS. This will provide more than 14,000 kwh worth of heating energy to the farm, which at the current average commercial electricity rate in NY ($0.1462/kwh) will save Hamley Farm just over $2,000 the first year. Over the first 15 years of the solar hot water system’s operation, the farm is expected to save more than $40,000 in energy costs (based on a 3% annual increase in energy prices).
IGS worked directly with partner SunMaxx Solar to acquire the materials for the solar hot water system at Hamley Farms, plus provided all of the engineering and installation service. A complete breakdown of the Hamley Farms solar hot water system can be found here: Hamley Farms Reference Project.
